Old wrinkles & new wrinkles

There is nothing like new life to make you ponder your own life. I keep wondering where did the time go? Wasn't it just yesterday when I had a little newborn? I wonder if I was a good mom? I wonder if I sat and held my babies? I can't remember....of course I can't remember what happened yesterday but it seems like the important moments in life shouldn't be forgotten. Does anyone else feel like life is passing by really fast? I just want to dig my heels into the ground and slow time down just a bit.

Baby Bumps and Belly Buddies!

I took these pictures on Sunday with a plan to blog about baby bumps and belly buddies, however the arrival of Mr. Cash Keane sort of changed those plans. But these belly shots are so precious I thought I would publish them anyway. So here is Brandi one day before she delivered and.........

Cash Jeffrey Keane 6-22-09

Our little baby Cash Keane weighing in at 5 lbs. 13 oz. and 18 1/2" long. This little guy is just a sweetie, he loves to snuggle and is just a dolly. He came into this world in a rush, and didn't really give grandma any time to get the camera ready but that was ok because just getting to be there and experience the miracle of birth is so awesome. Brandi did so well and I was very proud of her. Shane tried to help by asking her crossword questions. The answer to one of them was "Shut Up". My boss said that I should have responded that's a six letter word instead of the 5 letter work he asked for. I laughed about that, I didn't want a black eye! Actually Brandi got the next question but there wasn't a chance to ask for another clue!! Anyway everyone is home and well and we have our little 4th of July baby a little early but that will be ok because Brandi can show him off on the 4th. Thanks to everyone for the calls and prayers. God has once again blessed me with another grandbaby. No. 7 will be here this fall!!

So much to tell!

Wow, so much going on and so much to tell. I will be posting some pictures tomorrow but wanted Brandi to be the one to announce her news! I know everyone knows what it is but I don't want to steal her thunder by blogging about it first, she did all the work so she should be the one to give all the wonderful news and pictures. Look for my large photos on my honeybee heaven page in the next day or so. Cheers!

Special Touches

As I sat and watched Kyle walk Wendy down the isle I was in awe of the beauty of this woman who was about to be married. Wendy is one of those wonderful people who can overcome adversity and be a better, stronger person for that. Her mother, was one of my good friends, she died several years earlier from breast cancer. Not only did Wendy honor her mom by becoming a great mom herself but by working towards her goal to become a doctor. I know Kathy was looking down from the heavens, blessing her daughter with a perfect day. May you have a beautiful life Wendy!

Need something to do this summer?

Come see us at the Fort. I got to drive the Belgian's one day and that was so much fun. The two paints have been practicing to pull the stage coach and look so nice doing so. Hope to see you out there.

The love of baseball

Tonight I went to the ball fields and watched the orange team play the grey team and it was wonderful. I love baseball, always have and always will and to see my grandson, our little daycare kids and friends of theirs out playing was just so much fun. I guess on Friday nights the teams invite some of the older kids to play with them as they don't have an older team. Austin's team had my great nephew Cane Forbes, who is only 10 but still too old play on the regular team in league play, and the grey team had Aaron Moody and another kid I didn't know but he looked like a Babe Ruther. I thought it was really nice to let those older kids play since they don't have a team. That is one of the things I like about sports - it teaches the kids to play as a team and hopefully to learn sportsmanship. I read this phrase tonight and I thought it fit so well what we try to teach our kids. "The real winners in sports are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity — whether they win or lose a game." I know how hard it is to coach kids and teach them those values when everything in the world seems to be all about winning. But I saw those coaches helping all the kids, rather it was one of their players or on the other team, learn the basics of baseball. After all kids learn sportsmanship from the adults in their life. Sportsmanship carries through in their everyday life rather they know it or not. Those experiences are what forms the people we become. I think our coaches must have learned that well because they sure were great with the kids. Kudos to the coaches, kudos to the kids who learn to play like good sports and kudos to the parents who are the REAL life coaches in their children's lives, and teach them the grace of winning and losing.

For the love of photography!

Emma and I spent some time  in the garden today. It was such a beautiful day and the perennials are in full bloom, we just had to be outside. In order to see larger photos click on the picture to the right of the blog and it will take you to a new blog that will showcase some of my photos. I just picked a trip to the zoo with Brandi, Jaxon and Emma but hopefully will keep it updated with photos from my love of photography. The iris pictured is from some friends I met that visit the Fort every year, they have given me several kinds of iris and this is the first year this light purple has bloomed.   I hope to share more of my flower photos on my new site. Hope to see you there.

Always

I was just one year old when Patsy Cline won an Arthur Godfrey talent program with "Walking After Midnight". She died when I was 7 but I grew up with her music. My mom loved Country Western music, we didn't have a TV until the early 60's so all we listened to was the radio and Patsy was always on. The woman had a wonderful voice and now you can hear some of her music almost 'live'. The Post Playhouse is running a show called Always and it is about Patsy Cline and her songs, there were about 20 or more songs sung throughout the night. And I must say the little gal who played Patsy is very talented. It is a musical however it is also a comedy with drama mixed in. If you get a chance and love to hear some oldies get your tickets. I think that these shows this year are going to be so popular it will be hard to get into.

My Pal Jackie

I had the greatest time with my very good friend Jackie. She lives in Topeka KS and is here for a couple of days visiting friends and family. We had coffee at the Fort this morning then headed to Hot Springs, hoping to stop at one of my most favorite places in the world. Found out that they are closed on Monday so we just played tourist and looked around town. After a stop to Pamida and some serious plant shopping we had a quiet lunch at a downtown cafe. We had many serious talks and many, many laughs. Jackie is the one person in the world who understands me. We live many miles away from each other and don't talk as much as we should but the funny thing is what is happening in her life, her thoughts, actions, etc. are the same as what is going on in my life. It always amazes us that we are so much alike that we experience the same things at about the same time. This gal is one of the most talented people I know. I don't think there is anything she can't do but the things she does best.....well they are awesome. She decorates, gardens, sews, photographs and builds things. I wish I had just half of her talent. She and her husband will be moving back to the area after being gone for 21 years. She is going to open a shop called "Jackie's Junk" and I can't wait. Tomorrow she is going to help me plant the many flowers we bought then decorate my deck and give me ideas on decorating my "cottage garden studio". What a wonderful two days off I am having. Isn't the rain wonderful? Have a great couple of rainy days blogging buddies, the sun will be out in a few days and I bet it comes out SIZZLIN HOT!
